I'm Poppy, I live in Pacific Palisades with my husband and two young daughters. Originally from Leeds, in the north England I've ended up in this here in Los Angeles and I'm so excited to be starting my health coach business here, doing something that I'm so passionate about and sharing it with my community.
Growing up I was always a " healthy eater " and enjoyed cooking from a young age. I would cook healthy meals for my family and it was always something I really enjoyed. During my time as nanny in my teen years, the families I worked for would love me cooking healthy meals for their kids. I knew by that point I definitely had a passion for healthy food and cooking and that hasn't changed.
I left school and went to work with my mother who was and still is in the food industry. We worked with many Celebrity chefs and food brands developing their licensed products worldwide like Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay. Being around the likes of these chefs propelled me even further into the food world. Learning about all aspects of the industry was a great experience but I knew my passion lay with trying to help people and over the years I set about supporting and helping friends and family to become healthier, providing healthy meals and recipes whenever I could.
In 2005 I lived in New York for a couple of years and got some experience working for food PR agency before moving to Los Angeles. After a few different jobs, one being working in Cecconi’s restaurant where I would meet my husband, I moved to Pacific Palisades to be Nanny for a wonderful family with twins. A huge part of my job there also was also cooking for the kids and buying all the groceries - I was able to introduce them to so many different foods and cooking the family healthy meals they could enjoy together. They say to this day the twins are such good and healthy eaters because of those years of me cooking for them - which makes me proud.
In my twenties I was faced with some personal health issues from a nasty virus to fertility issues. From these experiences I was truly able to learn so much and just how powerful food as medicine can be.
My husband Michael is Italian and also happens to be in the food business (clearly I'm destined to be around food) he moved to Los Angeles from Italy a few years before me Importing Fine food from Italy from Organic Olive Oils to Pasta but mainly fresh Truffles (and Truffle Products) from his home region - Molise.
We now have two beautiful girls and after a very busy few years helping my husband with the family business and running around after two toddlers it seemed a natural progression to start to refocus on my passion.
After having my own children I realized even more just how important their education about food and diet is. Teaching kids to be aware of the food they are eating, educating them on the different types of fruits and vegetables and how important our diets are for both body and mind is something I'm also very passionate about.
After completing Mind Body Green's course in Functional Nutrition getting a deeper knowledge and understanding of functional foods, learning from some of the best Doctors and mentors around such as Dr Mark Hyman, Dr Steven Gundry, Dr Will Cole and Dr Taz Bhatia - I then went on to graduate as a certified Health and Wellness coach with the Intergrative Nutrition School.
I'm excited to share my knowledge and help my community become a healthier one.
